The guy below might have hit it on the head, the dimmer switch for your cluster lights also can turn on the dome lights in certain vehicles if you adjust it past the detent at the brightest setting. Try that and see if it does anything. DefinitelyCaligula • 8 yr. ago.
1. Door Not Closed The interior lights of the car are all connected to the doors. In some models, the lights are also connected to the trunk. When the doors or trunk are opened, the lights will turn on. When everything is closed, the lights should be off.
2. Light does not come on with dimmer switch. 3. Interior Light Relay under dash does not engage, but, relay is confirmed good. 4. Using a jumper in the relay socket will turn the light on. 5. All fuses check OK. I'm assuming it is not a door switch problem as both doors act the same and also the manual switch does not work.
On most cars and Im sure it's the same on our Mustangs, open the door and where the door is hinged onto the car there should be a button that when the door opens it lets the button out, thus allowing the lights to come on, and when the door is closed it pushes in the button turning off the lights.
1998 Ford F150 with interior light shut off problem. 1997 - 2003 Ford F150 - interior/exterior lights wont turn off - I just recently had my truck overheating and had to park it for a couple days til I could find out what the prob was (ended up changing the t-stat and radiator (previous owner had it plugged several times) and so far so good :) ).

I have not been here in a while but I need help, please. I have a 2006 F150 Lariat Ext Cab and my interior lights don’t always come on when the door is opened and also I noticed that my lock button doesn’t work. The truck will lock once I get into driving as it normally does. I checked the fuse and they all look good.

I recently found out that the reason my interior lights would not work was because the previous owner pulled the relay/fuse. I replaced it but now the interior lights will not shut off. If you are still unclear as to where to spray, use a screwdriver or even the key to make the door think it is closed even when it is open. Do this by pushing the key or whatever through the latch on the inside of the door near the handle.

I opened the door this morning to put some stuff in it and came back 20 min later and they were still on. Went for a 10 min drive, they never shut off and i never got a warning message saying there was an open door. 8tDp.
